Workshop Information

The Not Calm Collective

This workshop includes 4 different sessions, once a month throughout the spring.

Each month, we will cover a different stress-related topic. We will learn the science of stress, tools and practical applications for your nervous system.

The workshop is educational. It is not therapy or a process group. All are welcome to attend. It is also sequential, but you can attend one or all sessions.

Each workshop will be approximately 1 hour. See you there!

Upcoming sessions

  • Session 1 : Nervous System 101

    Tuesday 4/1 @ 11:30am EDT

In this first session, we will discuss the basics of our autonomic nervous system. We will connect what we learn to your day-to-day experience.  We will also work in an interactive way, that will leave you feeling informed and empowered.

  • Session 2 : The Thinking Trap

    Tuesday 4/29 @ 11:30am EDT

Most of us can also relate to spending a lot of time “overthinking” “fixating” and “ruminating” — so how can we be great thinkers without getting stuck in overthinking? In this session, we will learn some tools to support the process of getting unstuck.

  • Session 3 : Out Of Capacity

    Tuesday 5/27 @ 11:30am EDT

Have you ever felt like you are at or over your limit? For some things or for all things? In this session, we explore this (very pervasive!) issue and how it’s connected to stress and the nervous system.

  • Session 4 : The Myth of Boundaries

    Tuesday 6/17 @ 11:30am EDT

We hear so much about boundaries, but what are they anyway? Discover the myth vs. reality, and the relationship boundaries have to stress and anxiety.

Coffee & Co-regulation

Meet Amber

I’m Amber, the creator of the Not Calm Collective.

I am a therapist and coach in NYC who specializes in anxiety and working with the nervous system. I am trained in Gestalt Therapy and Somatic Experiencing. Somatic Experiencing is a type of therapy that focuses on trauma resolution.

I created this space because I think those of us who experience stress and anxiety are often told that we need to be more calm. However, after many years of study and experience, I’ve learned that this is not the goal.  In fact, holding onto this expectation works against us.

So, I’m offering a different kind of support.  Calm is not the goal.  Learning about our body and how it works, is.  When we understand our physiology, we start to feel anchored and empowered.

My hope is that the resources offered here can help us collectively move toward greater awareness, alignment and stability. We need it.  The world needs it.

I look forward to connecting!
